How Does Tattoo Removal Work?

Post Removal Care

After the procedure is done, you will have to apply a thin layer of antibiotic cream and keep the area bandaged. If it feels dry and tight, apply Vaseline or a recommended cortisone cream. Vitamin E cream also helps. Wear sunscreen for at least 3 months to protect the treated area while it heals. Once the bandage comes off, you can wash the treated area. Use mild soap and gently dry. Avoid swimming pools and hot tubs to avoid infection.

Don’t worry if you see your skin peeling. It is part of the healing process. If necessary, use an icepack for a few minutes to reduce pain, itching, and swelling that may arise after the treatment.

Who Is A Good Candidate For Removal?

People with older tattoos are great candidates if they have single-color tattoos. The colors that come off easiest are blue, brown, and black. More intricate tattoos take time to remove and cost a bit more. The greater the contrast between one’s skin tone and the tattoo will help make the process more efficient. Before starting the tattoo removal process, we will perform an initial examination of your skin and ask about your medical history to determine if you are a good fit for laser tattoo removal.

Steps in the Laser Removal Process

Before the procedure, you will be given a local anesthetic. We will then target the treatment area and administer the laser energy to heat and shatter the ink. Tattoos with multiple colors will require more sessions to get rid of the colors.
